International Hotel Capital Partners (IHCP), a Dutch developer and operator of hotels, is acquiring the real estate and operations of the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel at the Leiden Bio Science Park from production company RECO Development.
The hotel, which opened in 2013, has 173 rooms, meeting facilities with 6 halls, a bar and restaurant. The hotel was developed and operated under the Hilton Garden Inn brand and the relationship with Hilton will continue unchanged after the acquisition.
The Leiden Bio Science Park (LBSP), a collaboration between Leiden University and the municipality of Oegstgeest, is one of the most successful life science parks in Europe. In total, more than 200 companies are located at LBSP, such as Bristol Myers Squibb, Avery Dennison, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson, Galapagos and educational and research institutions such as Leiden University, De Hogeschool Leiden and TNO.
Simone Kok, project director of RECO Development: “With this sale we can concentrate on the further global rollout of our interactive attraction CORPUS”. In addition to Leiden, CORPUS now also has a branch in Ma’anshan, Anhui Province, China.
Remco Gerritsen, director of hotels at IHCP, adds: “The Hilton Garden Inn Leiden Hotel is a nice addition to our current hotels, both in terms of product and geographical coverage. With Hilton, Marriott and Accor, we now have the three most prominent international hotel organizations in-house.”
In addition to this hotel, IHCP also operates the Mercure Amersfoort Center, Renaissance Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Moxy Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Moxy The Hague and Residence Inn The Hague.
