Investing in yourself: Dutch hotel company makes employees’ dreams come true

How does an employer go the extra mile for their employees? The Dutch hotel management company International Hotel Capital Partners (IHCP) enables employees to fulfill their New Year’s resolutions at the company’s expense. After introducing the Bucketlist Program last year, this year marks the first round of payouts.

IHCP is an umbrella organization that includes Moxy Amsterdam Airport, Renaissance Amsterdam Airport, Moxy The Hague, Residence Inn by Marriott The Hague, and Mercure Amersfoort. With the bucket list savings account, employees can make their dreams come true or purchase something they have always wanted. After 6 months of employment, the company saves 25 euros monthly, which is set aside from the salary. The money goes into a personal savings account. After 16 months of service, the employee has saved 250 euros for a bucket list gift.

Investing in employees

Agata Szparaga is one of the employees who recently checked something off her bucket list. She used her savings for a two-day nail course to further develop her passion for nails. “I had inspiring days attending my course. Through this initiative, my colleagues and I have the opportunity to invest in ourselves, in something we enjoy, alongside our work. I am grateful that I can now cross this off my bucket list. I’m already looking forward to my next tenth month!”

Annemarie van den Berg, Director of Sales, Marketing & Events at IHCP, says, “At IHCP, we believe in a work environment where fulfilling personal dreams and resolutions are just as important as professional growth. With our unique bucket list savings account, we go beyond just work. We understand that happy employees contribute to a successful team and an excellent hotel experience for our guests.”
